My creative writing teacher had us do a little activity....here is what he told us to do:
Think of the worst thing that has happened to you. Write about it, in either a poem a short story an essay whatever....BUT don't use the personal I, Me, Us, etc. AND don't use any emotion/emotional words.
After 15 min or so Second Step
You may use the personal I, Me, Us, etc.
After 10 min or so Third Step
STOP MID SENTENCE
then go to your next sentence and begin to discuss the BEST thing that has ever happened to you. Don't worry it is supposed to appear jumbled. (Without using personal I and without using any emotion words)
After 10 or so min. Fourth Step
You may use personal I.
After 5 min or so. Fifth Step
Stop. Begin to connect the Worst event and the Best event WITHOUT bluntly stating the connection. Explicitly discuss in your writing how the two are related. You may use personal I and emotion words.
This was the activity and this is what i came up with ^^
